Swollen gum wisdom tooth sensitivity are the common problems in most people. It can be troublesome for many especially those who have busy lives and having gums and tooth problems can bother their activities. How will you fight off this condition? Gum swelling is very common and involves those triangular shaped gums in between the teeth. They are called papillae. If they swell, they could completely block the teeth. This condition can be caused by many factors. These are gingivitis, may be caused by an infection, malnutrition, pregnancy, poor fitting dentures, sensitivity to mouthwash or toothpaste and side effects of some drugs like Phenobarbital.

-Modify your diet. Eat a lot, but not too much. Poor nutrition can cause swollen and bleeding gums.

-Avoid formulas that could irritate your gums. Examples are commercial mouthwashes, cigarette, and alcohol. You might also want to change the brand of your toothpaste if it causes your gums to be irritated or swell.

-Maintain a meticulous oral hygiene. You should see your dentist at least every six months.

-If your swollen gums are caused by a drug reaction, you might want to talk to your doctor about it. But NEVER change your medicines unless your doctor prescribes you another one.

You should see your dentist if your gum swelling persist and is accompanied by any unexplainable symptoms like fever and flu-like symptoms. He might perform examinations like tooth exam, X-ray, and blood tests to rule out the problem.
