Does Cosmetic Dental Insurance Exists?


A lot of people don’t even know that there is such thing as cosmetic dental insurance. Even if there is such a coverage who would need it? Most of the time these kind of procedures are not covered by any insurance at all. That’s because the presumption is that cosmetic procedures are purely for cosmetic purposes and from the health point of view it is not necessary.

What are considered to be cosmetic dental procedures?

Normally these procedures are not considered as necessary for health reasons. For example professional tooth whitening, crowns, veneers, bonding and dental implant.

Veneers are procedures to reshape the teeth such as to reduce the existing teeth and to add a custom porcelain shell. A dental crown is like a cup over the visible tooth above the gum line and can be used to improve the look of fractured and broken teeth or silver fillings.

Bonding is a cheaper alternatives using a plastic resin and doesn’t involve reshaping of teeth, it is used to repair chipped teeth. The plastic resin will be tinted to match the existing tooth color or a lighter color if bleaching is also to be carried out.

That is not always the case. There are many people who need cosmetic dental procedures for health reasons and also for the need to functions effectively in their daily life. People who have teeth problems since childhood, there are others who damaged their teeth due to accidents such as car crash or the victim of crimes.

Cosmetic dental insurance is designed for people who need to undergo major dental surgeries not for the purpose of beauty alone but for the purpose of survival and to live a healthy and fulfilling lives.

How much does cosmetic dental procedures normally cost?

The cost for dental cosmetic procedures are normally very expensive, probably the most expensive dental work. That is the reason why cosmetic dental insurance is in place so that people can afford to have the work done.

Those who are not covered by the cosmetic dental insurance or do not carry any dental insurance plan at all will have to resort to taking expensive loans in order to carry out the procedures.
